An oasis of hope for a better future

Bright Horizon Children’s Home was founded in 2000. This children’s home, with its own school, is situated west of Kathmandu, in an idyllic village near Matatirtha, called „Mother Earth.“
Bright Horizon Children’s Home offers a safe home and provides an oasis  of hope for around 230 children and young adults between the ages of 5 and 18, as well as around 80 day-scholars.
Many of the children are orphans, having lost one or both parents, or have spent time living on the streets. At Bright Horizon Children’s Home they are given a new chance in life and the opportunity to shape their own future. In one of the poorest countries in the world, with an illiteracy rate of almost 50 percent, a solid education is essential to succeed in life.

Bright Horizon Children’s Home cares for the children until they are young adults and have completed their education and training and are able to earn a  living on their own.

Bright Horizon Children’s Home was founded by Marlies Kornfeld, a Swiss with over 30 years experience aiding Tibetan refugees in India, and who, since 1999, has been actively involved in humanitarian programs for children and young adults in Nepal.
